Beauty is subjective, yet society defines what it means by using certain demographic, making those that doesn’t meet the standards to feel inferior. I’ve come a long way from building my confidence and self-esteem to the point that I don’t feel insecure without makeup.

Most of us can verify to know at least a friend or family member that refuse to leave the house without makeup. We tend to brush off their compulsive habit, instead of questioning their self-confidence. As a young child, we would watch our mother apply her favourite makeup, pick out the best outfits flattering to her body type, pair that gorgeous shoes, ready to start her day, and we would want to emulate their routine. If I’m not mistaken, I’m sure all of us ran into their room, the moment they left the house to pick out the lip plumping lipstick, lash-thickening mascara, and powder makeup, making a mess as we apply these products to our face, igniting our love for makeup.

With beauty companies preying on our flaws, you simply weren’t aware of, to promote a new product, it’s easy to get wrapped up in hiding our face rather than highlighting our best features. Yes, makeup is artistic and fun, I’m also aware that some women have skin issues that they feel the need to conceal their acne or spot. By doing this, your skin gets worse, however, stripping back your makeup and focus on improving your skin, using skincare products, will make it easier to feel confident with, or without makeup.
